Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (Reception) and National Curriculum (KS1 and KS2).

We have developed our curriculum over recent years to ensure we not only meet but exceed the requirements of the national curriculum in providing our pupils with a knowledge-rich education to ensure their success as they move into KS3. The National Curriculum document shows the statutory objectives for the knowledge, skills and understanding that we teach from Year 1 to Year 6. Our curriculum has been carefully designed so that knowledge is built upon term by term, year by year and between topics across a variety of year groups. Thus, enabling pupils to gain and retain more knowledge and understanding. We call this 3D curriculum, which has three key strands:

Horizontal Links – knowledge secured through repetition term by term

Vertical Links – Knowledge linked and built upon across all subjects

Diagonal Links – Knowledge deepened between year groups within subject
